Mold Removal Procedures
Containment
Our mold remediation professionals begin the mold removal process by containing the work area to prevent cross-contamination of mold spores to non-affected areas of the property.
Negative Air
We clean the mold spores in the air using commercial-grade industrial air scrubbers. These HEPA air scrubbers are designed to capture 99.97% of all airborne and microscopic mold spores. This process helps to improve air quality in the room(s) where the portable air scrubbers are placed and prevent mold spores from circulating to other rooms.
Controlled Demolition
We carefully remove and dispose of the mold/water damaged building materials. This may include:
- carpets, floor tiles, ceiling tiles
- cabinets, fixtures, trim
- ceilings, sheetrock, sub-floor
Focusing on controlled demo and removal helps to prevent kicking and stirring up of additional mold spores. Most non-porous items can be treated and reused. Bigger mold remediation projects that include a full demo of the affected area may require a dumpster.
HEPA Vacuuming
The mold cleaning begins by vacuuming the contaminated area using HEPA filters, which are designed to capture 99.97% of all mold spores.
Antimicrobial Cleaner and Treatment
To treat the mold affected areas, we apply an antimicrobial cleaner made with botanical ingredients, that removes mold and is effective in neutralizing odors leaving no harmful residue. Non-corrosive, non-staining, made in the USA.
- EPA – 25B exempt designated safe ingredients
- Non-Toxic
- Highly renewable and biodegradable
Encapsulate Antimicrobial Sealant
After we apply the antimicrobial cleaner to the affected areas we then apply a surface anti-mold and antimicrobial sealer made in the US, 25(b) safe ingredients according to EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency). The anti-mold and antimicrobial sealant deliver long-term, interior, and exterior anti-mold surface protection. Quickly penetrates and adheres to porous and non-porous surfaces and leaves a durable, long-lasting barrier that will not blister, peel, crack, or chip, while helping to restore the integrity of water-damaged materials.
- Long-lasting anti-mold sealant on exterior concrete, brick, stucco, roofing tiles and masonry materials.
- Long-lasting anti-mold sealant for interior mold remediation crawl spaces and open chases.
- Long-lasting anti-mold treatment for ducts
Final Antimicrobial Wipe-Down & Fog
The final mold clean up involves an antimicrobial mold cleaner wipe-down on surfaces where mold spores may have settled and an antimicrobial fog treatment.
Clean-up
Once the job has been double-checked for quality, containment is taken down, the property is left in broom sweep condition and the customer will be informed of successful mold remediation.
Post Testing
A final standard mold test will be provided at an additional cost to ensure our customers that the air quality has been restored to normal conditions.
